Some Useful Statistical Tools for Data Analysis
In this talk I gather together some statistical tools I believe useful for a wide variety of problems. I discuss the notion of goodness of fit and prediction error as preliminary motivation. I then discuss out-of-bagging, cross-validation, variable importance measures, CART, bagging, random forests, random survival forests and spike and slab models. Material will be covered at an expository level with emphasis on concepts and data examples.
